It also seems to me that all of the billions spent on road construction are also, in effect, subsidies to the fossil fuel industry. It is true that we will need some of these roads for EVs and E-trucks, but for the most part, we should stop now building/expanding all roads, and only maintain what we have. Even the existing roads will be much more than we will need in the future, and our great grandchildren will marvel at the massive roadways and try and imagine why they were needed.
