Biofuels will have a niche role in the future for some transportation / construction equipment applications.

We should never be cutting down forests or Fern Gully for producing biofuels, but certainly we can in specific cases collect waste biomass to convert into biofuels where it is efficient and sensible. Biofuels can be a sustainable technology for certain applications, and make a small contribution to solving climate change.

What you have described however (leveling forests in Canada and shipping them to the UK), is clearly all wrong for many reasons (as you clearly point out).
