Congratulations on an excellent article. I support nuclear power, and certainly we need every type of low carbon electrical power generator that we can get. However, I don't really agree that the supply of Uranium can be managed past the next decade or two. We definitely need breeder reactors (preferably thorium breeders) to consider this as a long term fix. Also, I think that this can only be accomplished by a major governmental program (leaning on private enterprise, but not run by private enterprise). If the DOE can decide on a single safe and efficient design (large scale) for the future and fully test and permit it, then I think we would have a real chance. People would have to accept that this program and the initial reactors would need to be subsidized. Unfortunately, US politics are such that we can agree on nothing, and accomplish zero. If the MAGA wing gets in power after the next election, they will implode the government and any ideas like this will be gone forever.
