I enjoyed this fun and thought-provoking article. But a few ideas are difficult to contemplate: Sending one probe (or more likely hundreds of probes) to colonize a planet 10 light years away is an impossibility given anything we know today, and I have not heard any explanation of possible future technologies that could make this possible. The amount of energy and resources needed to accomplish this will exceed the grasp of even future highly advanced societies. It is also difficult to imagine civilizations lasting one million years. Our current global civilization is perhaps a few decades or maybe a couple of hundred years old (depending on definition). Who wants to bet it will survive for even 5,000 more years? Biological organisms do not now, and will not in the future travel from star system to star system. Possibly robots will. Please check out my article on this same topic (also on Medium).
